Second Hit and Run

Life looked different during daylight. The sunlight made it impossible to see the stars and the memories of the moments faded there were no echoes or shadows to be found.

He shrugged his shoulders and walked into the gym.

The clinkety-clank of the weights and the rush of adrenaline lightened his mood a bit and he let his mind drift towards things that made him smile. It had been a long week and he wasn’t ready to say goodbye to the weekend. Two days wasn’t enough this time around to help him decompress, especially knowing what the coming week had in store for him.

So he did an extra set and spent more time on the elliptical and did his best to picture the outcome he wanted.  There are very few things in life that you can force and control over what you do and how you do it is one of them.

Control what you can and with the punches on the things you can’t. That was the focus.

But life is ever the trickster and so he found himself walking in the dark alone at night and under the starry sky he saw what he wasn’t looking for and heard a song he had never paid attention before.

This time around the lyrics made their way to his ears and he heard them in a new way. This time around he listened, he heard and then he wondered what it all meant, if it meant anything at all.
