About TheJackB

Someone complained that this page doesn’t tell you what to expect to find here in this blog so I aim to rectify this with the next line. I am a father who writes about life, parenting, business, politics and fiction. I don’t use an editorial calendar because I don’t map out what I am going to write that far in advance. The primary focus will be on things that relate to children and parenting. But the nifty thing about that is that encompasses a wide range of things. Sometimes I work with companies on their PR/Marketing efforts. If they provide products or services I will disclose it. Here is an incomplete list of companies that I am currently or have recently worked with: Nintendo, Philips Norelco, Subway, Frigidaire and Mattel. Want to know more about me, keep reading. If I wanted to provide a professional description it would looks similar to this: Jack has a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from California State University Northridge. He has been writing for print and web publications for more than twenty years, covering a wide range of topics including: business, technology, parenting, politics, education, sports and religion. That is far too serious so I prefer to use something like: The Jack B. is a writer and author of 39 unpublished books and three screenplays. A former athlete and would be superhero he still fights for truth, justice and the American Way. Though he may look like a grown man, don’t fool yourself he is still a boy at heart. When he is not engaged in Walter Mitty like fantasies he is a husband, father and friend and blogs at TheJackB. Hmm…obviously I have since moved from Random Thoughts over to this place, but that is ok. This page is a work in progress which is a good description for me. I’ll probably tweak this on a regular basis so feel free to keep checking back in because you never know what might show up. I am a prolific writer and update frequently so don’t forget to scroll down the page to see what nugget of wisdom you just might have missed. Here is a short selection of posts to get you started. Old New Days

The man told the woman it felt a little bit like the old new days are here.

“When you think of me, I am thinking about you.”

Except, we’re a little bit older with a bit more life experience and new opportunities to explore what we couldn’t explore in a new way.

You know I am going to have you again and that you will let me catch you, so the time is coming when we put aside the pretend and open up to possibility and opportunity.

You miss me, not just heart and soul, but your lips. You know it and I know it.

It is time.

I Saw You

The man wrote the woman and told her he saw her in his dreams and that he knew she was going to come back.

“Still can’t say what will be forever other than you will find yourself in my arms again for no reason other than because fate says we need to know more.

I feel your heart beat and hear your thoughts just as you do with me.

I saw you and knew.”

Where Is My Girl?

The man looks at the computer screen and asks “where is my girl” knowing he could write, call or summon her with smoke signals and get answers to his questions.

“Woman, my heart aches when you are not around. Sometimes it takes a minute to notice but once I do it jumps out at me. We need answers.”

He looks up at a moon he can’t see and tells her one day she is going to step into his arms and pretend it is his fault it took so long.

“You know it is going to happen. You’ll make it out to be me and I’ll let it go just because, but damn sometimes your stubborn nature kills me. Except I am just as stubborn and just as determined. Don’t know what the end result will be, but we’ll figure it out…sooner or later. This I know.”

Saturday Night

Es tan corto el amor y tan largo el olvido

The man thinks about the Winter Woman and plays Rainmaker for a moment while playing around with what he wishes to say and do. Thinks about telling the woman he needs her to submit to his electric hands and be with him for a while.

He senses something that he can’t quite put his finger on and is trying to chase it down to figure out what it might be. There is a question of faith and willingness to take a chance.

Can’t figure out if he is fooling himself or if that other thing he senses is more than a feeling. For a moment he wonders if it’s the alcohol and decides he hasn’t drunk enough for it to be.

If he sees her visit their home he might write more if it feels right.

It is crazy, ridiculous but it also makes perfect sense so he shrugs his shoulders decides to just roll with it, whatever may come.

My Winter Woman

The man texted with the woman about the crazy impact of the winter weather upon their lives and prepared a text in which he called her his Winter Woman.

Wrote a bunch of soft and sweet words after it and promised to help take care of and protect her. Wrote about how he knew she didn’t need him for that, but he wanted to do so anyway.

Wouldn’t hurt to have an extra set of hands to help out with.

Then he clipped it and decided to wait. He knew she knew more about his thoughts than she was letting on and was pretty sure she knew he knew.

Eventually his Winter Woman would say something because she knew there was a line with him and that he wouldn’t sit in silence forever.

She would do her thing until she was ready to change or until she thought he might disappear for lack of communication. He had said no to her before and was capable of doing it again, even if it wasn’t first choice for all parties.

One More Letter

I wonder if you want me to really let go and write for you. Wonder if you want me to take down my wall and let go or if it is too much, too intense and too frightening.

Wonder if you think I am crazy in a good way or crazy in an unhinged way.

Wonder if you are ready to take down your wall or leave it up to protect yourself because you feel weight of my presence.

Some like it and some find it far too much and far too everything.

I wonder.

One Day Soon

He wrote his dear lady a letter and said he heard her in the silence and that was enough for him to know she agreed.

Gave him butterflies and gave him a warm feeling he hadn’t had in a long while.

My Dear Lady

My Dear Lady,

It appears you haven’t decided if you wish to let me woo you or if you’ll simply swoon at my touch.

Both could be true and given history, I say soon you’ll swoon.

My Lady

He saw her coming, smiled and greeted her. “Hello my lady, what may I do to provide pleasure today.”

She narrowed her eyes and he offered to bury his nose in her neck.

“You’re not offering, you’re telling me what you are going to do.”

“Perhaps, maybe I should just say submit. :D”
